I am trying to clean up my HP Stream Notebook with Windows 8.1 to free up storage n memory space. My laptop is not getting on, and I want to transfer all the data from taht laptop to my hard drive.

They're designed for energy efficient mass storage, holding movies and music. Western Digital Green drives are absolutely atrocious for boot disks. What are the make and model of the hard disks? I'm assuming Western Digital Green by the speed, but I'd like to know for sure. I downloaded a benchmark program which said I should be getting more like 55 mb/s. The disk transfer rate also only goes up to about 10 mb/s.
I know that 5400 will now be as fast as a SSD, but often when I open a program the HD goes up to 100% in the task manager performance section. The primary issue is data transfers and opening new programs. The computer has not been running as fast as expected.

On another note, I may install my own SSD to replace one of the hard drives, but I think I should resolve the issue in case of faulty components before I replace any hardware.Īny advice on this would be helpful, but if it is the manufacturer's fault, I don't want to use any third party software to fix this or do anything to jeopardize the computer itself or the warranty. I'm leaving for college in two weeks and I would like to know if there's a quick fix for this or if I need to send the computer back for a replacement/repair.
Both RAM and CPU stay below 25% when opening programs and during disk transfers. The disk transfer rate also only goes up to about 10 mb/s, and is sometimes as low as 1mb/s. Two 1TB hard drives-5400 rpm (Two partitions each)
